Benjamin Hoff's explanations of Taoism and Te through Pooh and Piglet show that this is not an ancient and remote philosophy but something that you can use, here and now. It is for this reason that I rate The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff at 3.25-stars on a scale of one-to-five."It's hard to be brave,' said Piglet, sniffing slightly, "when you're only a Very Small Animal." Despite seeing the value of the decision, the adult reader in me would have preferred an alternative means for introduce myself to Taoism. For the purpose of accepting the points made, this succeeded in my case. Using a dialectic approach was reasonable, and to do so using Winnie the Pooh characters westerners will recognize for their similarity to the subject matter addressed a stylistic need efficiently. In passing along the concepts of Taoism and defining terms that make it go, The Tao of Pooh is more than adequate to the task. Other means of expressing the essence of this concept also exist). With this analogy set, the explanation of the larger concept then follows with Winnie the Pooh characters present to help the reader understand the points of the philosophy.
